About

I'm an education consultant and coach based in Tennessee, working with students and schools nationwide. I hold an Ed.D. in K–12 educational leadership and policy from Vanderbilt, and I've spent nearly two decades in classrooms, district offices, and one-on-one with students. My work runs two ways: instructional coaching and consulting for schools and districts, and direct coaching for students and families on tests, essays, and applications.

With schools, most of my work centers on instruction — helping leaders and teachers put high-quality instructional materials to work in real classrooms. That means coaching school and district leaders on what strong implementation actually looks like, supporting teachers as they move from planning a lesson to internalizing it, and building the routines that make good materials stick. I also lead professional learning, facilitation, and applied research. Having both led instructional improvement inside a system and coached the people responsible for it, I keep the focus on what leaders and teachers actually need rather than on adding another initiative.

With students and families, I bring that same attention one-on-one. In essays, I help a student find the story worth telling and shape it through honest questions, clear structure, and steady revision, so the final draft sounds unmistakably like them. In test prep, I start by pinpointing exactly what's costing points, then build the small, reliable routines that move a score. Either way, the work is tailored to the person in front of me, with specific feedback and a clear sense of what to work on next.

“He pushed me past the version that sounded like everyone else and helped me write something that sounded like me — sharper, more specific, and built around the question I actually wanted to study. I do not think I would have gotten in without that work.”
