A second reader, when it counts.
If someone sent you this page, they worked with me and thought it might help. Here is what I do, how it starts, and a few things you can use today without booking anything.
Three kinds of support, one at a time
One-on-one, on Zoom, with a clear priority after every session. I’m Bryan Hearn — an Ed.D. from Vanderbilt and more than five thousand hours of one-on-one work with students and families.
Personal statements, supplements, UC PIQs, activity lists
A structured process from topic testing through final review, built around a principle that holds up: specificity beats sentiment, and the student’s voice stays the student’s. Support options run from eight to twenty-four sessions; the exact focus depends on the application list, deadlines, and draft stage.
ACT English and Reading, SAT Reading and Writing, GRE Verbal and Writing
Verbal and writing sections only, taught from three reading questions and a missed-question review that actually changes the next practice move. Each test has a Companion — strategy chapters, every lesson, and practice tests — that students can use with me or on their own.
Writing, reading, and getting back on top of a class
For high school and college students: a paper that isn’t coming together, a reading load that isn’t working, or a semester that needs a plan. Booked one session at a time when that’s the right fit.
A twenty-minute consultation, free
We talk about where the student is, what the deadlines look like, and whether I’m the right fit. If I am, I’ll recommend a support option and we set the first session. If I’m not, I’ll say so and point you somewhere useful.
When you book, mention who sent you. It helps me understand what you’re looking for, and I like to thank them.
